Tom McDonald

Tom McDonald is a partner in the law firm of McDonald & Shearer, P.A. He has practiced law in Polk County and neighboring counties since his admission to the bar in 1978. He received his juris doctor from the University of Miami. Mr. McDonald initially established the law firm of McDonald & McDonald, P.A. in 1982. Mr. Shearer and he established the law firm of McDonald & Shearer, P.A. in 1990. For over 25 years, Mr. McDonald and his law firm have actively supported charities as well as education programs.

Mr. McDonald grew up in central Pennsylvania. He was active in athletics, particularly in football and baseball. He worked multiple jobs in high school, college, and law school. He delivered pizza, worked in a pharmacy, labored on a survey crew, repaired roads, and loaded freight. Mr. McDonald worked as a Teamster.

Mr. McDonald has been noted for the legal challenges he has made in DUI and drug cases. Also, he has numerous successful personal injury and wrongful death awards. Mr. McDonald has successfully resolved in excess of 1500 DUI cases on behalf of his clients.

Mr. McDonald served as the President for the Polk County Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys between 1994 and 1996 and 2002-2004.
